Pollinator Garden at the Arc Of Dreams

July 9, 2020 By Minnehaha Master Gardeners

Over the last few months, the Minnehaha Master Gardeners have been hard at work building a pollinator garden at the base of Sioux Fall’s beautiful Arc Of Dreams.

Stating a pollinator garden may take about 5 years to get it to be totally functional and complete. In the meanwhile, we add annual blooms, like marigolds and zinnias. These attract bees and butterflies, and give passersby some color.

When planning a perennial pollinator garden, we considered not only size, we want to provide variety of nectors, blooms and blooming time. Native plants attract native wildlife & native pollinators.

Another component we wanted to add is a sign that explains what a pollinator garden is and why it’s important.

The next time you’re enjoying a walk along the river, be sure to stop and enjoy our exciting project!
