9:00 Vegetable Gardening. Master Gardener Mary Lerssen will provide information on how to plan, prepare, plant and care for a vegetable garden including the pitfalls to avoid.

10:00 Raised Bed Gardening. Master Gardeners Kathy Buseman and May Schaefer will talk about the benefits of raised beds, building techniques, soil mixtures, and planting and growing in raised beds.

11:00 Brighten Up Your Landscape with Amazing Containers. Master Gardener Cindy Jungman will provide information on container, soil, and plant selection, container care, and simple design techniques to create amazing containers for your own landscape.

12:45 Can I Really Compost That? Pierre/Ft. Pierre Gold Star Master Gardener Ron Schreiner, sometimes called the “Compost Nazi,” will discuss soil health, soil structure, and all aspects of composting.

1:45 Suitable for Framing: Photographing Your Garden for Art & Posterity. Freelance photographer and professional journalist Tim Schreiner will provide tips on how to take stunning photos of your garden – whether you use a Smartphone, a point-and-shoot camera or a Digital SLR camera.

2:45 Learning to Love (or at least tolerate) Insects. Amanda Bachmann, PhD, SDSU Extension Pesticide Education and Urban Entomology Field Specialist, will address a frequently asked insect question “how do I kill this bug?” Dr. Bachmann will cover the common insects and arthropods. Many of these critters are harmless, and some are even beneficial! She will discuss how to learn to live with our multi-legged friends.
